History / Background

Simply S.I.S.T.E.R.S. Ministries was initially birthed in June 2009 when a group of women from various churches and communities started to meet in the home of Founder and Executive Director Carlisa Anderson Stallings.  Prior to that time, several attempts were made to redirect individuals to leaders within their local  places of worship.  However, the women expressed the desire to talk and meet outside of the church for fear of being judged and looked upon negatively, potentially stripped from positions, and even ostracized.

After much prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit, Director Stallings facilitated group discussions throughout the summer months that were initially focused on challenges faced in marriage.  The women experienced freedom in sharing personal struggles and encouraging one another in the safe, confidential, loving and non-judgmental environment that was created through the presence of the Holy Spirit.  Biblical truths were shared that provided the answers to overcome challenges and provided insight into how to be the women and wives that God called them to be.  This series of discussion became known as the "Life of a Wife". Soon after this time, a monthly Saturday Morning Women's Prayer breakfast began, offering a time of fellowship and fun, including a topic of discussion with biblical teaching.  The official launch of Simply S.I.S.T.E.R.S. was held on August 15, 2015 in Raleigh, NC where Director Stallings delivered the message, "Life is A Journey" in the presence of family, friends, community organizations and representatives from various local churches.

In early 2018, God began to impress upon Founder Stallings to go back to school to gain knowledge around mental health issues that surfaced during retreats and workshops. Founder Stallings had planned to redirect women to mental health counselors and resources throughout the community.  After all, her background and 25+ year career has been in IT Project Management.  But God had another plan, aligned to His purpose.  So after many sleepless nights and several one-on-one conversations with women concerning personal mental health issues including suicidal thoughts, and without having answers outside of prayer and reading the Word, Founder Stallings embarked upon an educational journey at Liberty University in Spring 2019, finally resulting in a Doctorate in Education in Community Care and Pastoral Counseling on December 15, 2023.
